“RESILIENCE”

"Resilience" draws inspiration from the Japanese art of kintsugi, a method of repairing broken porcelain with lacquer and gold powder, celebrating the beauty of imperfection and restoration. This artwork reflects the deep metaphor of resilience, how our experiences, even the most painful ones, are to be embraced as integral parts of our journey.

The central figure, a lady with a big smile, stands in contrast against the fractured surface of the piece, symbolizing the human strength found even in moments of hardship. This oeuvre captures the essence of our duality, the idea that, despite life’s fractures, we can still find lightness, joy, and strength. The gold accents, carefully applied across the piece, mirror the healing process, where every fracture becomes a mark of wisdom and growth.

Crafted with graphite, conté (black stone), and gold imitation leaves, "Resilience" conveys the message that even in our darkest moments, there is a possibility for beauty and light. The contrasted background further emphasizes this duality.

Beauty is found in simplicity and imperfection, this piece invites viewers to recognize their own experiences of brokenness as essential steps toward becoming stronger, more whole, and more beautiful in their vulnerability. "Resilience" is a visual meditation on the patience of healing,  a quiet reminder that, much like the process of kintsugi, true recovery takes time, but it is in those moments of repair that we become our most authentic, powerful selves.
